Jada Pinkett Smith Takes on a Lead Role in a New Racially Tense Legal Drama

Fans were sad to see Jada not return to the hit show Gotham after the first season, but she is a making a big comeback to the small screen with the upcoming Murder Town on ABC.  She will play the first African-American District Attorney in Wilmington, Delaware. According to Variety, she finds herself confronted by old loyalties and loves, a shocking revelation about her murdered husband and a polarizing, racially-charged case that threatens to burn her and her city to the ground. Based off a script written by Rob Fresco (Crossing Jordan, HeroesTouch, How to Get Away With Murder), the show will be written by Barry Schindel ( Castle, Numb3rsIntelligence) who also is an Executive Producer alongside Jada Pinkett Smith and Miguel Melendez for Overbrook Entertainment and A+E Studios.  There is great anticipation for Murder Town to stack up alongside hits such as Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder.

After the end of Gotham Jada told the Hollywood Reporter that, “”[I’d] be down to [find] a character who makes me want to go to work everyday, but I’d absolutely do more television. I love the pace of television. TV is so different from movies because of the pace. I think that people who survive doing TV can survive anything.” We love to see big screen stars light up the small screen! Looking forward to the release of this nighttime show.
