Prince Estate Wins Legal Battle Over Unreleased Music

The Prince estate has  won a legal battle against producer Ian Boxill over the release of an EP of unreleased music. Boxill worked with Prince between 2006 and 2008, and in April last year announced plans to release a collection of six unreleased tracks they had collaborated on. Shortly before the record’s release date, the Prince estate was granted permission to block it.

In documents filed by the estate, it’s shown that Boxill was given a deadline of January 23, 2018 to respond to the lawsuit, but he never did.

So, the estate are now asking the court to sign off the injunction that will block him from releasing the tunes. Fans can rest easy knowing that unreleased Prince music is coming, but from the right hands.
