RIP: Founder of Earth, Wind, & Fire, Maurice White, Dies at 74

It pains me to say founder of the infamous band Earth, Wind, & Fire has passed away. White suffered a long battle with Parkinson’s disease- which may or may not be the cause of his death.

The success and legacy of White will continue to live on with twenty one studio albums, six Grammy awards, inductee of the songwriters, rock & roll, and vocal group hall of fame, and countless other awards and recognitions.

The death was announced earlier today on the band’s Twitter page stating, “Our brother Maurice White passed peacefully in his sleep this morning. The light is he, shining on you and me.”

Verdine Williams, a member of the band, via Facebook stated, “My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep. While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.”

RnB Magazine would like to send our condolences to the friends and family of Maurice White. Your legacy will forever live on.
