The Top Five Best Beauty Subscription Services

The beauty business is a multi-billion-dollar industry. From hair products to cosmetics, there is something for everyone to love and help them look beautiful. And not just women, beauty products for men are a growing market too. Everyone wants to be their best self and the advent of the internet and apps have made it so much easier to get anything you desire delivered right to your front door. Over the past five years, 50 beauty subscription services have popped up on the market. We have ranked the top ten for you to consider adding to your regular recurring rotation.

  • Ipsy

Ipsy is the OG of beauty subscriptions. Founded in 2011 by YouTube sensation Michelle Phan, Ipsy is a $10 a month service that ships cosmetics, perfumes, nail and skin products, and other items to their dedicated subscribers. Ipsy sends out five beauty samples in a custom beauty bag every month, the products are provided for free by their companies in return for the feedback that customers give. One thing that makes Ipsy so great is its relatively low price and discounts for future purchases.

  • BoxyCharm

Full sized products are a beauty subscribers dream. Every month, BoxyCharm provides over $100 worth of cool stuff to their subscribers for only $21. This service is highly recommended by beauty addicts and is considered a great value. BoxyCharm features 5-6 nail care, skin care, hair care, makeup, and even fragrance items every month, the majority of which are full sized. BoxyCharm also usually features coupons in every box for up to $10 off your next purchase of the products. Even more, BoxyCharm includes makeup tips for how to use the items included. This service is a great value and a real must-have for beauty lovers.

  • BeautyFix

This is one of the best high-value product boxes on the market. Featuring all full-sized products, this is a good mix of makeup, skin care, and hair care products. BeautyFix is usually a good variety, but there are a lot of skin care products included. BeautyFix includes a card that details each item and what it’s good for. The products in this box are often European and elegant, they are great for trying products that are new and that most beauty subscribers would never pick on their own. At $25 a month, BeautyFix isn’t cheap, but it’s a great value.

  • Walmart Beauty Box

That’s right, Walmart. For only $5 per quarter this box is reasonably priced and low risk. The Walmart box sometimes includes full-sized products and sometimes just samples. Still for only $5 it’s worth it to give it a try. The box also includes coupons, which add to the value. The products found in the Walmart Beauty Box are pretty average, there are few products in it that most beauty subscribers haven’t tried, still it’s a great value (no pun intended).

  • OnyxBox

Finally, there is the awesome OnyxBox which was created for women of color. For only $25 per box, the items included are usually valued at over $70 per box. “Your monthly dose of black girl magic,” includes beauty products, skin care, and hair care products for black women. Each box comes with an info card with a beautiful illustration and details about each product and how to use it. The founders of OnyxBox are interested in educating their subscribers while exposing them to new products. OnyxBox illustrates how important it is for services for women of color because their beauty needs are often specific to their unique skin and hair texture. OnyxBox is a pretty inexpensive beauty investment that is pleasantly curated.
