Over the holidays, Brandy and her longtime boyfriend Ryan Press made it official, as the couple became engaged after years of dating. Now that the engagement has been confirmed, Brandy is opening up about how the proposal went down and her upcoming wedding plans.
Speaking with PopStopTV on New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas, Brandy described her reaction to Ryan asking her to marry him.
“It was a surprise but I felt something was going to happen. But it was definitely a surprise because your imagination does the actual moment no justice. I said ‘oh my God’ so many times I forgot to say ‘yes.’”
A beaming Brandy also shared how happy she is now.
“I’m very happy. I’m definitely on cloud 11. At one point I gave up on love, so to have this feeling, and for it to feel like the first time and with the person I feel God has created for me to be with, is just magical. I want it to stay like this.”
As for a wedding, Brandy and Ryan plan to keep it in Los Angeles so more of their family and friends can attend their nuptials.
“We have a lot of homies that probably won’t come if we do a destination wedding, so we want to keep it as local as possible. Haven’t set a date yet, but I’ve definitely been imagining it and thinking about what it’s going to be like so I’m gonna get started.”
Brandy also spoke on the news of Kim Kardashian’s pregnancy and offered parenting advice to her and boyfriend Kanye West.
“I’m very happy for Kim and happy for Kanye. I was looking at pictures of them online and they just look so happy.
“I think the key to being a good parent is to remember you were once a child. When you have that perspective, everything flows.”
