Fantasia In Talks For Broadway Production ‘After Midnight’

Fresh off songs like “Lose To Win” and  “Without Me,” Fantasia Barrino is in talks  to appear in a reincarnation of the acclaimed production  “Cotton Club Parade” on  Broadway.

Refreshed with a new name, “After Midnight,” producers behind the production are reportedly in talks to bring Fantasia to Broadway  as early as October, with an  official opening date in November.

According to Shadow & Act, the original production of “Cotton  Club Parade/After Midnight” is billed as  “a Broadway-style revue that recreates Duke  Ellington’s years at the famed Harlem nightclub in the 1920s  and ’30s, when the joint was  jumping with shows featuring big band swing and  blues. As in the original revues, After Midnight will feature singers, dancers and variety acts, with songs by the greatest  jazz composers of the time,  including Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields, a young Harold Arlen, and of course, Duke Ellington  himself.”

Other names considered for casting have not been revealed at this  point, but “After Midnight” is slated for  previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre and  could open on November 3.

An official announcement regarding the cast is expected in the  coming weeks.
