La La Anthony has everyone talking about her remarkable new Latina magazine cover which you can find on stands now. From the stunning beauty shot by Alvin Kean Wong, and complimenting in-depth story written by Taiia Smart-Young. La La bares it all and speaks about her family, entrepreneurship, and estranged relationship with NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony.
“It’s hard when your dad doesn’t live in the same place as you anymore. We try to make it as normal as possible [for Kiyan] and make access to Melo as frequent as possible. He’s an incredible dad.”
In the article, Power Moves, Anthony talks about her new upcoming business deals including a multi-project deal to create scripted and non-scripted programming for ITV by her new production company, LaLa Land. Anthony has quietly been producing great content for years including the Mike Tyson documentary, Tyson and BET’s New Edition Story.
At 38, La La still looks a lot like she did in the early 2000s when she hosted MTV’s Direct Effect and Total Request Live. Her caramel-colored skin glows and her bright eyes still sparkle and mesmerize. The photos in the Latina spread highlight her timeless beauty.
In the issue, La La discusses her complex role on Starz hit show, Power where she plays Keisha-the troublesome best friend of Tasha St. James. She explains that even she had to audition for the role…several times, in fact. Still, as much as she enjoys acting—La La is reveling in her role as a producer creating projects for herself and others.
La La is set to produce (along with Timbaland) VH1’s reality show Goal Diggers, which follows Instagram models and video vixens as they use their influencer status to become entrepreneurs. Then there’s the partnership with Queen Latifah’s Flavor Unit Entertainment and Codeblack Films to turn her New York Times best seller The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness into a movie.
While people admire her success, most are also incredibly interested in the status of her love life and her relationship with her husband Carmelo Anthony. She chooses to keep her private life, private stating: “When you entertain [rumors] you give them power. Only I know what’s going on with my relationship and that’s what matters to me, not what everybody else thinks. I’m trying to be an example for other women out there. You don’t have to feed into the bullshit. Deal with it quietly. When it’s time for the world to know, they’ll know. There’s no strength in playing it out publicly. What am I going to gain from that? I like the high road.”
