Lauryn Hill Sued by Former Guitarist

Singer allegedly refused to pay over $20,000 in wages

Lauryn Hill has been hit by a lawsuit from a former band member who claims that the singer has refused to pay him thousands of dollars in wages. Jay Gore, a guitarist in Hill’s band on her 2007 European tour, is seeking $23,600, which includes his owed wages, as well as $20,000 in punitive damages.

In addition to alleging that Hill withheld his wages, Gore’s suit also claims that the singer created a hostile work environment on the road. According to Gore, “Hill would demand that the musicians and road support personnel attend meetings she would engage in a person-by-person critique and berating” after shows.
