Stevie Wonder Commits $10K Yearly For The Blind to Touch MLK’s Face

Stevie Wonder is giving the gift of touch. After feeling Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s face on the new statue carved in stone at a memorial in Washington, D.C., Wonder wants other blind visitors to experience the same joy.  The “Ribbon in The Sky” singer has created a foundation, giving blind visitors the chance to touch Dr. King’s face and torso.  Announcing his plans at a gala on Wednesday night (August 24), Wonder said, “Through the Wonder Foundation, I commit $10,000 a year that will allow as many people that are blind to go up in the cherry picker (crane) to see this.”

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr memorial will officially be unveiled at the National Mall next week
