Neo-soul sensation Andra Day has been on a whirlwind of success in 2016. Her debut project, Cheers to the Fall and her single, “Rise Up”, were nominated for two 2016 GRAMMY Awards (where she performed and shared a duet with Ellie Goulding); she also performed at last week’s Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia; and last year she sang at the White House and starred in a commercial’s for Coca-Cola and Apple with her friend, mentor, and admirer, Mr. Stevie Wonder.
Now, Day has landed her ballad “The Only Way Out” on the Ben-Hur movie soundtrack, and released a concept music video for the song.
“The title is in reference to mercy; you can harbor this anger toward people in your life or you can forgive,” states Day, “the themes in the song are the same as in the movie, believing in yourself, preserving in hope and faith”.
