Michelle Wiliams Talks About Thoughts on Coachella Rehearsal

As everyone knows by now, Coachella aka #Beychella was amazing and a big part of that was due to the reunion of Destiny’s Child. Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland joined Beyonce on stage both weekends and absolutely killed it! Between their to die-for outfits, hitting all the dance moves and performing our favorite tracks, Destiny’s Child made the wait worth-while. And apparently, Michelle Williams felt the same way!

The singer spoke with the Los Angeles Times about the group’s first rehearsal and the performance.

“Initially I was like, ‘Bey, just go out there and have fun,” Williams said she told her old bandmate. “People are gonna be so excited to see you.” But when Williams arrived for the first rehearsal she realized that Beyonce had other plans in mind when she saw the huge pyramid. “I told you just to go have fun! But she can never do anything that we would think is normal. And this is what’s fun for her.”

Michelle went on to add that the experience was more than she expected, in a good way! “Let’s call it a blessing,” she said. “Beyoncé and Kelly — they’ve been in the game for, what, 23 years? Me just 18 years. And when people see us together they still lose their minds! People are asking, “When y’all gonna tour? When y’all gonna put out new music?” It’s been 14 years since we’ve had an album together, and people are still asking.”

“When Beyoncé does something, it’s because she knows that if she can do it, everybody else on the stage can do it,” she said. “Somebody might have to rehearse a little longer than others or go over the music parts a little longer. But she shows that you put the work in, and I know that however many people were onstage — 150, 200 — I know they’re all gonna go home and their lives are gonna be changed because they saw her work ethic. They saw that she’s not some glamorous girl on private jets with assistants flocking her side, who just walks in and magically dances so great onstage. She is involved.”

Beyonce, if you’re looking for more backup dancers, we will happily take the job! Just give us a few years to get the steps right!
