Ne-Yo on Kanye West: “He Needs Help”

While on the red carpet for VH1’s “Dear Mama” taping, Ne-Yo took a minute to speak with HipHollywood and address the Kanye West situation. As most know by now, Kanye visited TMZ and made the comment that “Slavery was a choice.” The comment obviously went viral, was turned into memes and folks took to social media to tear Kanye apart. But Ne-Yo says that Kanye needs help and people shouldn’t be bashing him.

“I’m not going to be one of the ones on this nasty nasty throw the whole dude away [campaign],” told HipHollywood at VH1’s “Dear Mama” taping. “No, Kanye needs some help.”

“I hate the fact that we live in a society where before we turn around and try and help somebody, we turn around and try and break somebody down, I don’t like that.” he added.

As for West’s “Slavery was a choice,” statement, Ne-Yo said he doesn’t agree.

“Of course what he said it was rude, it was mean, it was hurtful, but at the same time that is a very intelligent man, so for him to get up and say something like that, that means something is wrong.”
