The MacArthur Foundation awarded LaToya Ruby Frazier the MacArthur Genius Grant this Tuesday. For decades Frazier focused on capturing the African-American Rust Belt Story through her lens. Braddock, Pittsburgh, outside Pittsburgh and her hometown, is a small, worn-out, broken down and forgotten dwelling. Through local and family shots Frazier captures the heart wrenching, yet powerful stories of the townspeople. Frazier teaches photography at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
