Trey Songz Names Drake For Possible Collabo LP

Since Jay-Z and Kanye West have been making headlines and conquering the charts with their latest collaborative effort ‘Watch The Throne,’ many artists are considering trying to recreate a similar success. Speaking with The Source, R&B singer Trey Songz revealed that Drake “comes to mind” if he was to ever do a joint collaborative LP.

“When thinking along the lines of that, Drake is the first person that comes to mind that I am that musically comfortable with in that space,” Songz tells The Source. “He is a friend of mine as well, and I think we can pull something off like that; could sound very authentic.”

This news is not much of a surprise since Trey Songz and Drake have collaborated on numerous tracks together, including Songz’ most recent single “The Usual.” However, just like how it took Jay-Z and Kanye some time to join together for a full-length LP, you can expect the same from Trey and Drake. According to Songz, the joint project has to be something that happens “organically” and cannot be forced.

“I mean, you got to look at [Kanye and Jay-Z] and see how long it took them to do it, you know? So it has to be organic in whatever way it happens. It can’t be a business decision and you can’t look at it in a way of making it lucrative,” Songz explains. “I think it has to be something that you are definitely going into for music’s sake. It has to be something real, because if it’s not authentic you can hear it.. They’ve been working together for so long and so many tracks together under their belt before this album even came that it’s been very much premeditated.”

Trey Songz is currently working on his fifth studio album, entitled ‘Chapter 5,’ which he has already proclaimed to be his “best work” yet. Drake is also working on his sophomore project ‘Take Care’ which is slated for an October release.
