With her album Cheers to the Fall unveiling this week, San Diego native Andra Day releases another acoustic visual from her August 28th debut “Only Love.”

On the Adrian Gurvitz and James Poyser-produced track, the retro-pop old soul describes the trials of romance. “‘Only Love’ is about experiencing different types of love and then sort of discovering within yourself that some of those weren’t actually love when you thought they were,” Day reveals. “It’s evaluating what love is, what that really means to you, and what it means to give true love to other people

LYRICS:

So I’ve learned a lot of things in the past year or two
Like there’s different types of love that I should know about
So my question is this
What kind of love is it
That can leave me all alone in some bar
With just a six point sweetly laughing at my foolish heart?

Only love can break your heart
Like poisonous darts
Woo you apart
Then only love
Can save the day
So unexplained
So what do you say?

And if it’s all the same to you this kind of love
It taught me an ugly truth, I was guilty of
And so my question still remains
What kind of love again
Can leave him all alone in his car
With just the radio blastin’
Singing to his foolish heart?

Only love can break your heart
Like poisonous darts
Woo you apart
Then only love
Can save the day
So unexplained
So what do you say?

So a poor man’s spin is what I got and gave
To my dismay
Could this have really been love?

Long as we’re talking
Is one real, one fake
Like a silly game
I think we’ve all had enough
It’s left us all alone in the dark
Asking all of these questions
About all our foolish hearts

Only love can break your heart
Woo you apart
Oh yeah
