Brooklyn-born, Detroit-raised singer Aaliyah, who was affectionately known as the “Princess of R&B”, died at the young age of 22. Aaliyah and eight others lost their lives when their plane crashed after the Bahamas video shoot for “Rock the Boat” in 2001.

The singer, rapper, and one-third of TLC passed away from injuries sustained during a car accident in Honduras. She was 30.
Prince
The music iconic passed away at his home in Minneapolis on April 21.
Emergency responders found Prince unresponsive in an elevator at his Paisley Park compound. CPR was administered, but medics were unable to revive the singer. A paramedic later stated that Prince had been dead for about six hours. Prince was announced dead at 10:07 a.m., a press release stated that the singer had died of an accidental overdose of fentanyl.
Minnie Riperton
Best known for her hit song “Lovin’ You,” Minnie Riperton was a soul singer in the ‘70s. After being diagnosed with breast cancer and undergoing a mastectomy, Riperton passed away at age 31 in 1979.
Amy Winehouse
The soul-pop diva passed as a result of alcohol poisoning. She was found not breathing in her London residence and was pronounced dead at the scene.
