Buzzing vintage-soul singer, Andra Day, reveals the music video to her hotly anticipated single “Forever Mine” from her debut album Cheers to the Fall out August 28, 2015 via Buskin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Records. “Forever Mine” is directed by renowned and generationally respected director, Spike Lee, who was impressed by Andra’s timeless, sultry vocals during the What Happened Miss Simone? tribute at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.
Andra Day describes “Forever Mine” as a love song written to God about her spiritual relationship, which strengthened throughout the ending of her eight-year relationship with her first love. But it’s also a head-nodding, finger-snapping doo-wop song with a vintage, cinematic feel. Spike Lee honors the powerfulness of the song with a simple concept, making the legendary live box installation in the lobby of the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood the focal point of his vision. Spike takes gives you a glimpse of Andra’s personal journey and her pursuit to live out her dreams.
“The video’s concept is [about] me,” Andra explains. “The box represents my sanctuary. When I wake up in the morning, the first thing I do is pray, confess and be still, so that box [is] that space where all of my creativity comes to me. Then I see people and life through that space.” Andra adds, from Spike, “I’ve learned that simplicity is a very powerful thing. You don’t need much to convey a message.”

Influenced by timeless singers like Billie Holiday, Lena Horne, and Erykah Badu, Cheers to the Fall features Stevie Wonder, who actually discovered Andra Day and introduced her to the founders of Buskin Entertainment. Production comes from critically acclaimed producers such Raphael Saadiq and ?uest Love. Andra describes, “Cheers to the Fall is based on a true story. It’s a biography told in the form of soul music. The themes within the story are truth, fearlessness, vulnerability, forgiveness, and love.”

Andra was featured in the most recent issue of ELLE Magazine as part of eBay’s interactive print campaign highlighting emerging female talent. Readers will be able to scan the ad with the Blippar app to unlock access to Andra Day’s signature collection on eBay and a snippet of her song, “Forever Mine.”
Her first televised appearance will be on The Real, which airs on FOX Monday, June 1st as part of their African-American Music Month Celebration. Fans will have a taste of her timeless vocals with approaching performances at the BET Awards Experience, Cannes Film Festival, Essence Festival and Life Is Beautiful Festival.
