We hear about celebrities doing silly things all the time. We look at them as being serious people, but forget that they are just like you and me-only a lot richer! So when Brandy impulsively rode the NYC subway and somewhat serenaded passengers, she proved that no matter how famous you may become, a little silliness here and there ain’t never hurt nobody.
You would think passengers would react to a random woman singing loudly on a crowded train. Nope! Not these NYC passengers. In an interview with the NY Post she explains “I thought maybe someone would go, you know, “You have potential! You should do this!” Or some kind of validation. But nothing. And that was what was so funny about it.”
The singer goes on to say “People were having full-blown conversations next to me, and walking off the train, and I’m like, “Oh, my lord. I guess I better do a little more practicing.” The guy that did respond said, “We’ve seen this before. This is New York. You have to do something different!” And I said, “Sir, I’m giving it my all,” and he’s, “No, you have to be more over-the-top.” And I’m like, “OK. Well, I don’t know what else I could do!”
Just a couple years ago Hip-Hop mogul Jay-Z rode the subway and was asked by a passenger who he was. Guess this is the normalcy for NYC subway passengers?! Who knows? You could never get away with that in L.A.
