Dear Beautiful: A Letter To The Broken-Hearted Girl | RnB #13

Dear Beautiful,
Yes, you. The beautiful girl with the puffy eyes, eyeliner smeared, and face full of tears. Go in the bathroom, splash some water on your face, and look at yourself in the mirror. Girl, you are gorgeous. Don’t let no man-scratch that-little boy let you think otherwise. He cheated? No, he lied? Both? Hmmm. Looks like he didn’t know what he wanted or knew what he had and didn’t know how to treat it. What does that tell you? Now, I’m not saying he never cared. But a man will go hard for what he truly wants. It’s not your fault. Sometimes people grow out of love or don’t grow at all. I call that “growing nowhere.”

So you ask yourself “now what?” What do I do now that he’s gone? And well…you keep living. Your world doesn’t stop or start when a man enters or exits your life. Never give no man the power to decide what your mood will be. I know he cheated and you are completely devastated, but that does not mean he won. He lost the best thing that has probably happened to him-you! Think of it like this; he lost you, you won yourself back. Take this time to be the best you.

I remember my first “real breakup.” I’m not talking about high school puppy love or a two month fling. I’m talking about six years of love I thought we had. He was my everything and I thought I was his. Turns out, I was everything but his one and only. He cheated, multiple times. Even had the guts to gloat about it. I let him win, at first, but I eventually got tired of it. I got tired of the lies, the cheating, and the disrespect. I was/and still am worth more than what any man can ever give me. After six years of love and pain, I let him go. I thought being in a relationship with him was the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I couldn’t have been more wrong. In fact, leaving him was one of the greatest decisions I have ever made in my life. I found myself after our breakup. Funny thing is, I never even knew I lost myself in the first place.

I want to end my letter saying this: you are beautiful. I know I’ve said that already, but I want those words to resonate with you after reading this. You can have anything you put your mind and heart to. The pain you feel is only temporary. The only thing that can heal pain is time. With that being said, remember to always put yourself first, no matter what. You are so special and if “he” can’t see that or is having a difficult time with it, than find someone who will!

Love always, your friend,
Simone Grant
