Singer Ray J is refuting claims that he sent a text message to Kim Kardashian, which detailed him taking credit for her success, prior to her star-studded wedding ceremony this weekend, where she tied the knot with basketball player Kris Humphries during a lavish ceremony in Montecito, Calif. Saturday (Aug. 20).
According to Radar Online, Ray scolded Kardashian in the text, stating that he was responsible for her stardom, which was kicked-off by a sextape scandal that put her on the map. “And to think you really have me to thank for all this,” read the alleged text.
In an interview with Chicago’s 107.5 WGCI, the 30-year-old denied sending the message to Kardashian. “I’m so over that,” Ray J said. “Let her live her life. Everybody sending me these crazy wild Twitter [messages] and all these texts about her. I’m like look, let that girl live, let her be happy, leave her alone.”
However, when asked whether or not he contacted Kardashian to offer his congratulations, Ray was less forthcoming. “I ain’t gonna really say what I did, but I do wish them the best,” he admitted. “I’m over all of that. I wish them the best. She’s doing real good right now, that’s what it is.”
Ray and Kardashian began dating in 2006, and one year later, their pornographic sextape was leaked to the public. The video was distributed by porn giant Vivid Entertainment, and while Kardashian initially filed a $5 million lawsuit attempting to bar further release of the tape, she later reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount.
Following their split, Kardashian and Ray J have found fame on reality TV with their shows ‘Keeping up with the Kardashians’ and ‘A Family Affair, respectively, which both feature aspects of their family life.
